Morning drop off and afternoon pickup can be a smooth, safe, and efficient process if we all work together. In order for a safe and efficient process, it is critical that parents/guardians do the following:
- Read through these instructions very carefully.
- Confirm that any person picking up their child is listed as an emergency contact. Please email Rebecca Kosaian to add emergency contacts.
- Share the drive thru process, including instructions and map, with any person picking up their child(ren).
- Display their Tiger Pickup sign in their window BEFORE arriving at WLE.
- To register for a Tiger Pick Up sign, please complete the Tiger Pick Up Form.
- Tiger Pickup signs ordered by 8/23/23 will be ready for pickup at the Teacher Meet & Greet scheduled for 8/24/23. Those not picked up will be distributed to the oldest child of the family the first day of school.
Arrival
Parents/Guardians dropping of their child(ren) at school should:
- Stay in their car at all times in the drive-thru lane. Children need to be able to exit the car independently. If you have concerns about your child’s ability to do this, please practice at home.
- Pull all the way up to the top of the drive-thru lane or to the vehicle in front of them. This allows for more vehicles to unload at one time, making the process quicker for all.
- Not leave the drop off line early. Please wait patiently for the car in front of you to pull forward.
- Practice buckling/unbuckling with younger children. It is important that children can do this independently for the flow of the drive-thru lane.
- Keep children in the car until a staff member is present at 8:50 a.m. Staff will be available to assist with unloading children, ensuring safety and supervision of students.
Students arriving by private vehicle will:
- Wait in their vehicle until 8:50 a.m. or a staff member is present to supervise students.
- Have their belongings ready to efficiently exit the vehicle when it is their turn.
- Exit on the passenger side of the vehicle only.
- Follow the sidewalk to the back door on the South side of the building.
- School doors open at 8:50 a.m. Class will begin at 8:55 a.m.
Dismissal
- Students will wait inside the gymnasium or nearby hallway, on an assigned spot, with members of the same household.
- WLE will post a staff member at the beginning of the drive, near Maple Road. This staff member will look at the Tiger Pickup Car Signs, call out the number via radio to a staff member waiting within the gymnasium, so that students will be ready when their parent/guardian arrive to the pickup section of the drive-thru lane.
- It is preferred and most efficient if parents/guardians arriving to WLE by vehicle use the drive-thru lane. Parents/guardians may park in the interior parking spots and escort their child across the crosswalk, if absolutely necessary.
- A Tiger Pick Up Car Sign must be presented in order for a child to be released to a parent/guardian. Adults without a Tiger Pickup Car Sign must go to the main office and present identification before a child can be released.
Parents/Guardians picking up their child(ren) from school should:
- Stay in their car at all times in the drive-thru lane.

Students leaving by private vehicle will:
- Wait in the gymnasium or nearby hallway with members of the same household.
- Wait for his/her number to be called.
- Exit the gymnasium and use the sidewalk to get to their parent/guardian's vehicle.
- Only enter their vehicle on the passenger side. This keeps all of our students safe.
