Five Walled Lake United boys’ lacrosse players earn All-State honors

The Walled Lake United boy’s lacrosse team was recognized by the Michigan High School Lacrosse Coaches Association (MHSLCA) with five student-athletes taking home six All-State awards to close out the 2026 season.

Chase Rybak and Reid Widmer were named to All-State teams for the second-straight year, while three others received All-State Honorable Mention.

Rybak was named a Second Team All-State Long Stick Midfielder after leading the state in Division 1 in caused turnovers (52) for his position for the second-straight year. Rybak led the team and Division 1 this season with 135 ground balls as well. The Walled Lake Western senior was also recognized for his hard work in the classroom named Academic All-State for the second-straight year closing out his high school career with an unweighted GPA of 3.93.

Widmer was recognized as a Second Team All-State Short Stick Defensive Midfielder. He led the state of Michigan in Division 1 at his position with 47 caused turnovers and 107 ground balls. His 107 ground balls also rank 5th in the state for a short stick defensive midfield since 2021. Widmer finished the season with 25 goals and 23 assists as well.

Jordyn Janesak, Matt Minnich and Lucas Shemenski all earned All-State Honorable Mention. Minnich led the Walled Lake United offensive this season as the team’s top scorer. He finished the year with 36 goals and 31 assists. Janesak and Shemenski were two of the anchors to the defense that allowed just 3.9 goals per game.
